Set up ticket types
Purpose
Add, edit and remove the tiers people buy tickets against — capacity, price and when each one is on sale.
Before you start
- The event must exist (see Create an event) and not be
CANCELLED,COMPLETEDorARCHIVED. ticket.createon this event's organization.
Steps
- On the event screen (
/events/event?id=…), under Tickets, press Add a tier. - Fill in name, description, price in ₹ (a tier priced ₹0 is free — no fee, no payment step for the buyer), capacity, and the sale window (when it opens and closes; sale close defaults to when the doors open).
- Press Save (or Cancel). The tier is added; a ₹0 tier keeps the event free, anything above ₹0 makes it ticketed.
- To change a tier later, press Edit. Capacity can be lowered, but never below what is already reserved or sold. Once anything has sold from a tier, some fields lock.
- To remove a tier that has sold nothing, press Delete — it is removed outright, no history kept.
- What a buyer sees for each tier follows the sale state, computed live from the clock and stock — it is never something you set directly:
| Sale state | What it means |
|---|---|
NOT_YET_ON_SALE | Before the sale window opens. |
ON_SALE | Inside the window and stock remains. |
SALE_ENDED | Past the sale window's close time. |
SOLD_OUT | Nothing left, even if the window is still open — sold out always wins over the window. |
Decision guide
| Situation | Do |
|---|---|
| Want the event to stay free | Keep every tier at ₹0. |
| Want to charge for entry | Add a tier priced above ₹0. Sotillion adds a fee on top for the buyer — you are not charged it and it is never taken from what you settle for the ticket. |
| Need to reduce capacity after tickets sold | You can lower it, but not below the number already reserved or sold. |
| Need to change the price after tickets sold | Not from this screen once a tier has sold — escalate (below). |
| Tier is sold out but you want to sell more | Add a new tier rather than trying to reopen a sold-out one. |
The fee added to the buyer (not deducted from you): ₹15 + 18% GST on orders up to ₹500 in ticket value; 5% + 18% GST above that. It's calculated by the server at checkout and shown to the buyer before they pay — you settle the ticket price itself, not the fee.
Escalate when
- You need to change a price or a locked field on a tier that has already sold tickets — there is no in-app support case system for organizers yet. Use the contact channel Sotillion gave you directly.
Record
- Creating, editing and deleting ticket types write no separate audit row beyond the tier's own history in the event — capacity and price changes are visible on the tier itself, not in an audit log you can browse.
- Keep your own note of price changes and why, since Event Admin doesn't show a history of edits.
